Wentworth Club (Edinburgh)

Wentworth Club (Edinburgh) is an 18-hole course in Virginia Water, England, that opened in 1990 after the idea for a third Wentworth layout was first conceived in the late 1970s. The Edinburgh Course was designed by coach and former Ryder Cup player and captain John Jacobs, working in consultation with nine-time major champion Gary Player and the Club's then professional Bernard Gallacher. Their shared ambition was to honour a core principle associated with designer Harry Colt: that a course should challenge the best players while remaining genuinely playable and enjoyable for club golfers. A wide range of teeing areas lets golfers choose a length that suits them, and generous landing zones encourage the use of the driver. Strategic placement of pines and doglegs, however, demands careful club selection and shot shaping from longer hitters, making driving on the Edinburgh both a physical and mental test.
