Wentworth Club (East)

Wentworth Club (East) is a Harry Colt design from the early 20th century, set in Virginia Water, England — and the first of Wentworth's three courses to be built. Colt's reputation when he took on the project was already formidable, with credits including Royal Portrush, Sunningdale Old, Swinley Forest and St George's Hill. The East Course sits comfortably alongside those classics. It made a remarkable entrance, serving as the venue for the inaugural Curtis Cup in 1932 and hosting a 1926 match between US and Great Britain & Ireland teams that directly inspired what became the Ryder Cup. While the West Course has claimed much of Wentworth's global spotlight over the decades, the East holds its own as a much-admired 18-hole layout.
