Description
The Dunes at Maui Lani Golf Course has hosted the 71st Maui Open and stands as one of the few true links-style layouts in Hawaii. Designed by Robin Nelson, this 18-hole public course in Kahului sits on naturally occurring dune terrain shaped by grass swales and pot bunkers. The opening hole sets an early tone: a dogleg-left, 350-yard par 4 with a risk-reward decision off the tee. Practice options are extensive. A lighted range covering over two acres of grass tees is open daily from 6:30am to 9:00pm, alongside an adjacent pitching and putting green. Golf instruction is also available on site. The clubhouse Golf & Gift Shop is open 365 days a year and carries Dunes logo wear, made-in-Hawaii products, and golf equipment, with Titleist club rentals at $55. Fuego Argentinian Steakhouse serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week.

Tim DrakeApril 26, 2017Course is undergoing heavy maintenance at this time. Many greens were being reseeded and were completely brown. Despite the challenges provided by the maintenance, the course is well designed and laid out with a fair degree of challenge.
