Description
Designed by Bill Newis and opened in 1987, Maui Nui Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-71 public course in Kihei, Hawaii. The layout plays across open fairways shaped by trade winds, with ponds and bunkers adding further definition throughout the round. Views shift hole to hole: the opener, a medium-length par-4, looks out over Haleakala's slopes and La Perouse Bay; hole 6 runs due south with the Pacific Ocean at your feet and a pond guarding the right; hole 11 frames the West Maui mountains and Iao Needle; and the finishing hole drops downhill on a dogleg left with Auau Channel and Molokini in view. GolfAdvisor.com has ranked the course #1 for value and #1 for best overall experience in the US. Practice options include dedicated chipping and putting areas, and Da Nui Academy offers private lessons with PGA staff. The clubhouse includes locker rooms and a video room. Rough greens
Hamilton FosterAugust 26, 2022Honestly, not a great golf course. The rentals were a scam as they did not provide the balls they had posted on the website, and we’re playing with the lower quality Calloway Mavericks vs. the Sim 2’s. 5th iron was broken and missing pitching wedge. Fairways were super splotchy and greens were graded, aerated, and sanded with no warning. 18th hole was closed due to renovations without warning as well. Do not recommend. Only positive was being able to play for less than $100 green fee and the views of Maui.
