Sea Island Resort (Retreat) is an 18-hole course on Saint Simons Island, Georgia, redesigned in 2001 by touring professional Davis Love III and his brother Mark. The Love brothers drew on players' preferences from the earlier layout, adding 300 yards of length to give the course a more open feel and a lower profile. Pine trees and bunkers define the character of the design, yet the routing encourages golfers to swing freely toward their targets rather than play defensively. The result is a course that is both dramatic and accessible — shaped by two brothers who brought close personal attention to every detail, with the goal that every player might enjoy the game as much as Davis Love III does.
