Fota Island Resort (Barryscourt)

Fota Island Resort (Barryscourt), designed by Jeff Howes and opened in 2000, is an 18-hole, par-73 resort course in County Cork, Ireland, stretching to 6,958 yards across terrain shaped by oak trees and an old quarry. The layout's standout moment comes at hole 8, where the tee shot carries over that quarry to an interestingly angled green. The course has hosted the Irish Open three times — in 2001, 2002, and 2014 — as well as the PGA Europro Audi Cork Irish Masters in 2011 and 2012. Practice facilities, shared across the resort, include covered driving-range bays, a putting green, three USGA-spec chipping greens, and the Fota Island Golf Academy, which offers TrackMan analysis and professional trainers. The extensively equipped Pro Shop stocks apparel, accessories, and equipment. The clubhouse restaurant occupies a creative conversion of old stone farm buildings and focuses on classic dishes built around local organic produce.
