Clube de Golfe Cantanhede

Clube de Golfe Cantanhede holds a notable distinction as the first public golf infrastructure built in Portugal. Located within the Complexo Desportivo de Cantanhede in the Coimbra District, the course opened on 5 September 2009 and sits roughly 20 km from Coimbra, Figueira da Foz, and Aveiro. The facility covers teaching, training, and competition across 18 holes. The practice area includes a driving range with 10 covered bays, a pitching green, and a putting green of around 600 m². The playing area is built around a Pitch & Putt layout of nine holes, designed to IPPA standards, with 22 tee positions that also allow Par 3 and alternative route configurations. P&P tees use synthetic turf to accommodate ball tees, while Par 3 tees are natural grass. The course is part of a wider sports complex that also includes three football pitches, located about three minutes by car from Cantanhede town centre, with easy access by bicycle and public transport. It sits adjacent to Biocant Park, the International Biotechnology Centre. The municipality designed the facility to be accessible to all residents regardless of age or socioeconomic background.
