Southwood Golf Club

Golfers on Hole19 have recognized Southwood Golf Club as Tallahassee's standout public course, and the record backs that up. Designed by Fred Couples and Gene Bates and opened in 2002, this 18-hole layout in Tallahassee, Florida plays between 2,696 and 7,172 yards across rolling hills, pastureland, and ancient oak trees draped in Spanish moss. On opening, it earned Top 35 New Courses in America from Golf Magazine, America's Best New Courses from Golf Digest, Top 50 Courses for Women from Women in Golf Magazine, and Tallahassee's Best Golf Course from Tallahassee Magazine. Practice options include a driving range with 25- and 50-ball buckets, plus private lessons with Head Golf Professional Mike Abate, PGA Associate. The fully stocked Golf Pro Shop is on site. The Southwood Restaurant is open to the public, seats 100 guests, and features a monumental cherry and granite fireplace and live music every Friday night. A wrap-around porch looks out over the 9th and 18th greens, and the SouthWood Room is available for rental.
