KS Miyaki Country Club

KS Miyaki Country Club is an 18-hole riverside course laid out along the banks of the Chikugo River in Miyaki, Saga Prefecture, Japan. Unlike most riverside layouts where holes run parallel to one another, the course follows the river upstream, with holes 1 through 9 arranged sequentially along the full width of the floodplain. This gives each hole an unusually generous fairway width, and the flat terrain and relatively short distances create an approachable feel at first glance. Look closer, though, and the course has more bite than it appears. Twenty bunkers are spread across the nine riverside holes — a high count for a layout of this type. The bunkers are shallow but distinctively shaped, and depending on where your ball comes to rest inside one, getting out cleanly can be a real challenge.
