Description
Katayamazu Golf Club Katayamazu (Nihonkai) is one of three 18-hole courses making up a 54-hole complex in Kaga, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan — the largest golf facility on the Sea of Japan coast. The Nihonkai (Sea of Japan) course was designed by Giichi Sato, the same architect behind the original Hakusan course, and opened in 1967. Like Hakusan, it takes advantage of the natural undulations of the Katayamazu terrain, where pine forests frame the layout and the land's contours shape each hole. The course features a high proportion of downhill holes, making it accessible and enjoyable for both high- and low-handicap players. A refreshing sea breeze drifts in from the deep blue Sea of Japan, giving the round a distinct coastal character that sets this course apart from its two siblings on the same property.
