Katayamazu Golf Club Katayamazu (Kaga)

Katayamazu Golf Club Katayamazu (Kaga) is a 54-hole facility in Kaga, Ishikawa Prefecture, comprising three 18-hole courses — Hakusan, Kaga, and Nihonkai — making it the largest golf complex on the Sea of Japan side of the country. Designed by Satoru Sato and opened in 1957, the Hakusan Course was the first to take shape, drawing on the natural undulations and pine forests of the Katayamazu landscape. The Nihonkai Course followed in 1967 and the Kaga Course in 1970, both also by Sato. In 1996, the Kaga Course was fully redesigned under the supervision of Shunsuke Kato, emerging as a tournament layout stretching beyond 7,000 yards. Each course plays to its own character. The Hakusan Course invites approach shots toward the sacred peak of Mount Hakusan, while the Nihonkai Course offers views over the deep blue Sea of Japan. The Kaga Course uses the flat coastal terrain as a canvas for mounds, grass bunkers, and pine forest framing, creating a strategically demanding test. Together, the three courses carry a long history as a championship venue.
