West Byfleet Golf Club

West Byfleet Golf Club is a classic heathland course in West Byfleet, England, originally designed by Cuthbert Butchart in 1906 and later refined by celebrated architects including James Braid, John Abercromby, John Morrison, and Neil Coles. The club itself was formed in 1922. The course sits on Bagshot sand, which provides excellent drainage and keeps it open when many others close. At 6,200 yards off the men's competition tees with a par of 70, it is not long by modern standards, but six par-four holes exceeding 400 yards make par a genuine challenge. The ladies' course measures 5,600 yards at par 72. The signature 13th, known as the Pond hole, is a short but tricky par three. The layout is largely level, making it an easy walk, and all tees sit close to the previous green. Uniquely, the course is entirely private with no public footpaths, bridleways, or rights of way crossing it.
