Uchihara Country Club

Uchihara Country Club is a woodland course in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, routing 18 holes through natural trees that separate each hole cleanly. The terrain is notably flat, with a vertical variation of just 3 metres, giving the layout an open, playable feel. Fairways are generously wide, encouraging confident tee shots, though well-placed bunkers demand attention throughout. Water hazards appear at various points on the course, and the closing stretch of each nine is where the layout makes its strongest impression — dramatic holes follow one after another in the back half of both the front and back nines. The greens are a defining feature: each averages around 1,000 square metres, making them among the largest single-green designs you will encounter. Their varied contours and undulations mean that simply finding the putting surface is not enough — positioning your approach shot to the correct zone of the pin is essential. Holes 17 and 18 are particular highlights, each featuring attractive water that also comes directly into play, requiring careful shot-making to close out a round.
