Description
Toronto Golf Club (Colt) is one of North America's most historic layouts, tracing its roots to a club founded in 1876 — the third oldest on the continent. The current 18-hole course in Mississauga, Ontario, sits on the banks of the Etobicoke River, where the club relocated in 1911. English golf architect H.S. Colt was commissioned to design the new course, which opened for play in the autumn of 1912. A separate nine-hole Watson Course was added to the north in 1921. The club has hosted the Canadian Open five times — twice at its original Toronto location in 1905 and 1909, and three more times at the current site in 1914, 1921, and 1927. It has also hosted the Canadian Amateur Championship eight times, more than any other club in the country.
