The Course at Sewanee

Opened in 1915, The Course at Sewanee in Sewanee, Tennessee was originally designed by Bishop Albion W. Knight and later refined by Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner. The 9-hole public layout sits on the Cumberland Plateau, where undulations and bunkers shape each hole across the elevated terrain. Hole 5, known as The Edge, is the course's signature. The course carries significant recognition: Golfweek ranks it the No. 2 public course in Tennessee (2026), Golf.com places it 9th among nine-hole courses in the U.S. and 18th in the world, and Golf Digest included it at No. 10 in its 2023 ranking of the 25 Greatest College Golf Courses in America. It has hosted the 2016 Girls State Junior, the 2018 Women's Mid-Am and Senior-Am, and the 2021 Challenge Cup. On-site dining is available at Green's View Grill, a fast-casual restaurant located at the course.
