Southern Pines Golf Club

Southern Pines Golf Club is the only daily-fee Donald Ross original in the Village of Pinehurst area, offering 18 holes of traditional golf in Southern Pines, North Carolina. The layout dates to 1906, when the first nine holes were built, and has remained remarkably intact over more than a century — no re-routing, no housing development, and minimal reworking have altered its character. That makes it a rare example of a Ross design in near-original condition. The course plays across rolling terrain with few forced carries, and many greens are open at the front to encourage the bump-and-run approach that defined the era in which it was built.
