Southern Hills Golf & Country Club

Southern Hills Golf & Country Club opened in October 1997 on land the Dunaway family of Hawkinsville had farmed and hunted since the 1970s. The Dunaways continue to operate the course today, with a focus on delivering a quality experience for serious golfers. The 18-hole layout was designed by Mike Young of Athens, GA, with shaping by Ernest Jones, and took 18 months to build. What sets the course apart for central Georgia is its rolling terrain and elevation changes of up to 160 feet. Fairways mix open land with corridors lined by oaks and pines, and water comes into play on nine of the 18 holes. Southern Hills also stands as the largest real estate development in the history of Pulaski County, making it a significant landmark for the region beyond golf alone.
