Southbroom Golf Club

Southbroom Golf Club is a celebrated 18-hole layout on the lower South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, rated 4.5 by Hole19 golfers and ranked South Africa's most fun course by Golf Digest in December 2012. Situated only a short distance from the Indian Ocean, the course offers views of pristine beaches and the sea, plays alongside the indigenous vegetation of the Frederika Nature Reserve, and winds past elegant coastal residences. The palm trees and tropical foliage are a reminder that you are firmly in South Africa, though the layout itself carries a character more reminiscent of Britain or Ireland. Each of the 18 holes presents its own challenge, and water — in the form of dams and rivers flowing toward the sea — demands a careful game plan throughout. Wind is a significant factor. The par-3 fourth, measuring just 114 metres, is the most celebrated of the two seaside holes: a wedge on a calm day, a serious test when the wind turns against you.
