Shinrin Koen Golf Club (East)

Shinrin Koen Golf Club (East) is an 18-hole hillside course in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, set at a higher elevation than its West counterpart and offering notably fine natural scenery throughout. The East course features wide fairways with generous undulation and relatively few out-of-bounds hazards. Ponds, streams, valleys, and forest come into play across a variety of holes, keeping each one distinct. The front nine invites free-swinging tee shots across expansive fairways, while the back nine demands more careful reading of elevation changes and wind. The 17th hole is the course's signature, a valley splitting the fairway into two distinct routes — a hole that reportedly gave even Arnold Palmer serious trouble during a past visit. The higher elevation also supports rare endangered plant species, adding a natural dimension beyond the golf itself.
