Rated 4.5 by 200+ Hole19 golfers, San Lorenzo Golf Course in the Algarve, Portugal ranks among the region's most reviewed layouts on the platform. Designed by Joseph Lee and Rocky Roquemore and opened in 1988, this 18-hole resort course moves through saltwater marshes, freshwater lagoons, undulating pine woodland, and along the Ria Formosa Estuary. Hole 5 looks out over golden beaches and the Atlantic Ocean. Hole 6 is a dogleg rated Stroke Index 1 that borders the estuary. Hole 8 is a par 5 running alongside the largest inland lake. Hole 12 carries a deep chasm along its left side, hole 16 demands a 180-metre carry to a shallow green, and hole 18 closes with water left, right, back, and front. Practice facilities include a driving range, a putting green, a practice bunker, two chipping greens, and golf tuition from a PGA Professional. The clubhouse has a bar and restaurant, a pro shop, golf buggies, trolleys, equipment rental, and caddy service on request.

David WilkieMay 14, 2026Sham full condition of a once great golf course. Horrible cart paths - fairways poor, buggies in short supply. Avoid until the lot who own it stop taking the piss and invest to bring it back to former glory

Frank KoschnickMay 15, 2024Once one of the top places in the Algarve. Now he's just no shadow from back then. The state of care is deficient. The buggies are very, very old and very expensive. The car paths are in a catastrophic condition. The fairways are not in a good shape. The greens are good.
