Possum Trot Golf Club

Possum Trot Golf Club sits in the heart of North Myrtle Beach and has been welcoming public players since it opened in 1968, originally designed by Russell Breeden. It is widely regarded as one of the best-value courses on the Grand Strand. Unlike many Myrtle Beach layouts, the fairways here are not lined by houses or condos, offering a core golf experience through palmetto and pine, with ponds and bunkers shaping play across all 18 holes. The challenge comes primarily from narrow fairways and smallish TifDwarf Bermuda greens rather than water, which only enters play on seven holes. That balance rewards accurate ball-striking while remaining manageable for players who miss the occasional fairway. Bunkers guard the sides of fairways and greens throughout, inviting lower approach shots as a tactical option. The signature hole is the 18th, a 535-yard par five. A straight tee shot and layup set up a wedge or short iron over the corner of a lake, but the closer a player plays to the green on the second shot, the more that lake comes into play. Three bunkers also protect the putting surface, making it a hole where fortunes can shift quickly.
