Penn State University Golf Course (Blue) is one of the most-played courses in Pennsylvania on Hole19, and its 18 holes make clear why it draws a crowd. The front nine plays to a par 36 and measures 3,696 yards from the New Nittany tees. Tee shot placement is critical here — a well-positioned drive sets up approaches to greens guarded by 27 strategically placed greenside bunkers. The layout demands both length and accuracy, testing course management and patience throughout. The back nine, completed in 1994 with additions in 2006, offers a noticeably different experience. At 3,518 yards from the New Nittany tees, it shifts toward a links-style atmosphere with large, undulating greens. Sixteen greenside bunkers are joined by 11 fairway bunkers, tightening decisions off the tee. Water hazards on the 14th and 18th add pressure to what can appear to be routine tee shots.
