Palm Beach Golf Club

Palm Beach Golf Club sits on a narrow isthmus beneath the Barrenjoey Headland, with Pittwater to the west and the Pacific Ocean to the east — a setting that has to be experienced in person to be fully appreciated. The 18-hole, 4,176-metre layout plays to a par of 64 and has a deceptive character. It reads as a flat, straightforward course, yet under competition conditions par is rarely broken, and the course record stands at 59. Many capable golfers have found it a sharp lesson in course management. The signature hole is the par-3 second at the south-east corner of the course. At around 140 metres from the men's tee, it demands a near-full carry with large 15-metre Fig trees guarding the green. During club Medal Rounds it has produced scores above 20, making it one of the most punishing short holes in the area.
