Ocean Creek Golf Course

Ocean Creek Golf Course, designed by Davis Love III and Paul Cowley, opened in 1995 on Fripp Island, South Carolina. The 18-hole layout plays to 6,613 yards at par 71, with five sets of tees — including Wee-Links tees — making it accessible across all skill levels. The course weaves through salt water marshes, fresh water lagoons, and four rolling dune ridges. Five holes run alongside marsh, and six more incorporate interior wetlands connected by wooden walkways and bridges. The signature 6th and 7th holes sit along Old House Creek and a marsh habitat that Jacques Cousteau described as one of the most pristine salt-water marsh environments in the world. Wide fairways and large greens offer forgiving targets, but errant shots face the surrounding wetlands and vegetation. The wildlife — egrets, osprey, herons, and deer — is plentiful enough that scenes from Forrest Gump and Disney's live-action Jungle Book were filmed here. Golf Digest named Ocean Creek Golf Course one of the 10 Best New Courses in America upon opening and has since awarded it a 4.5-star rating.
