Northstar California Golf Course

Northstar California Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 layout in California's Martis Valley, designed by Robert Muir Graves. The course plays across two distinct nine-hole settings. The front nine moves through open meadow terrain characteristic of Martis Valley, while the back nine works into the mountainous landscape of the Tahoe region. The shift between these two environments gives the round a varied character that changes the demands placed on a golfer from one half to the next. Graves routed the course to follow the natural contours of the land, carrying play in and over the terrain rather than flattening it. The result is a layout where elevation change and the transition between meadow and mountain are built into the challenge rather than serving as backdrop alone.
