Mogamigawa Country Club

Mogamigawa Country Club is an 18-hole riverside course located near the mouth of the Mogami River in Sakata, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. The layout combines two distinct nines. The original nine holes occupy a compact, space-limited stretch of riverbank, with narrow fairways and short par-fours that can feel a little modest. The par-threes on this side tend to play longer, helping to balance the overall challenge. Greens are small and difficult to approach, which means scores can be harder to manage than the flat, open terrain might suggest. The nine holes added in 1993 offer a noticeably different experience — wider fairways and larger greens give this newer section a more generous feel. Together, the two halves create a course that rewards precision over power, particularly around the putting surfaces.
