Greenock Golf Club (18)

Greenock Golf Club (18), known locally as "the big course", is an 18-hole layout in Greenock, Scotland, redesigned in 1924 by former Open Champion James Braid. At 5,850 yards, it may not be long by modern standards, but tight fairways and small, undulating greens ensure it tests players at every level. The terrain is semi-moorland, with tree-lined fairways, burns, and bunkers ready to punish wayward shots. The opening five holes play over undulating ground before a short uphill sixth carries you to the upper section of the course. The seventh tee offers what many consider one of the finest views from any course in Scotland, and the long, demanding par-3 seventh begins a tough six-hole stretch that can define a scorecard. The downhill thirteenth, framed by a cluster of bunkers, draws you back into the heart of the course. A pair of long par fours and a strong closing hole round off a thoroughly enjoyable round.
