The course has a nice layout with plenty of bunkers either in driving landing areas or guarding the greens. The sand feels firm on the top layer but is filled in enough so you can play a reasonably standard bunker shot. There were many bunkers that had overgrowth beyond the lip and into the sand which makes for an interesting Scottish links feel. I think it is more a question of upkeep rather than the designer's intention. The fairways and tee boxes are nicely manicured. The fairway width is reasonable, however there are many holes, both par 4 & 5's, where the driving landing areas become tight the further you drive the ball. Also there are several holes, that depending on the wind, will become tighter as you get closer to the green. The rough is long but landing in it usually results in lies with a mixture of grass shoots and hardpan, so all is not lost if you land in the rough. The par 5's play long except for one, which is listed at 475yds, from the blue tees. We played in June 2018 and the greens were slow and probably rolled between a 6 to 8 on the stimpmeter. They were a little shaggy yet most were firm. It appeared that several greens may have been re-sodded so it could be that they were trying to bring in new grass. The staff was courteous. The practice area is a 5 min cart drive from the clubhouse. The putting green and chipping area are not maintained with the green showing sod transplants and an unrolled surface. the driving range is your standard stall arrangement with astro turf for non teed up shots. All in all, while the green maintenance and practice areas are sub par, Gold Time does make for an enjoyable round of golf.
