East Potomac Golf Course (Blue) plays 18 holes at par 72, stretching to 6,599 yards from the tips on flat, wide-open, links-style terrain in Washington, District of Columbia. Designed by Walter Travis and opened in 1920, it is one of the older municipal layouts in the country. The course hosted the 1923 US Amateur Public Links, and it is rated 4.0 by 100+ Hole19 golfers. Practice options are shared across the facility and include a double-decker driving range with heated stalls on the bottom level, a putting green, and three practice holes available to book time on. The Potomac Grille handles food and drink on site — they make a sneaky good cheeseburger.

The good: Very reasonably priced for a golf course located in a large city; long enough to hit driver 14 times a round and greens are decent by municipal course standards. The bad: fairways are hit or miss as far as bare spots, sand traps barely have any sand and several tee boxes are not close to being flat. A few of the employees are surly and things that are broken are not repaired until you email the general manager. If you report a problem to staff, it’s almost certain that nothing will be done.
