Craignure Golf Club

Craignure Golf Club is an 18-hole course — played as a nine-hole, nine-tee layout — set among some of the most scenic surroundings you are likely to encounter anywhere in Scotland. The course rewards accuracy off the tee, particularly when the wind picks up, and it is wise to carry extra balls. The rough can be punishing, and the Scallastle River comes into play on two of the most demanding holes. The seventh is a straight par 4 where an over-ambitious drive will find the water; discretion off the tee is strongly advised. The ninth is another par 4 crossed by the same river, ready to collect any wayward tee shot. An added quirk on the second fairway: nesting terns can make the approach a genuinely lively experience. When the sun is out, Craignure Golf Club is as enjoyable a place to play as you will find in Scotland.
