Bloemfontein Golf Club

Bloemfontein Golf Club is an 18-hole parklands layout situated near Bloemfontein Airport in the Free State, with a history stretching back over 115 years. Originally designed by Bob Grimsdell, the course has since been upgraded and redesigned by Matchovich and Hayes, balancing tradition with ongoing improvement. The club's heritage runs deep. It hosted the South African Open Championship in 1958 and 1963, and welcomed an exhibition match between Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player in 1966. More recently, BGC served as a Vodacom Origins of Golf Tournament venue on the Sunshine Tour for eight consecutive years, alongside numerous interprovincial tournaments. The course is designed to challenge off the back tees while remaining playable from the forward tees, and the membership places a high priority on course conditioning. It is one of the most-played courses in Free State on Hole19, rated 4.4 by Hole19 golfers across 70 or more reviews.
