Bethpage State Park Golf Courses (Black) has hosted the 2002 U.S. Open, 2009 U.S. Open, 2019 PGA Championship, 2024 Ryder Cup, and the 2012 and 2016 Barclays, with the 2028 KPMG Women's PGA Championship and 2033 PGA Championship still to come. Designed by A.W. Tillinghast and opened in 1936, the municipal 18-hole layout in Old Bethpage, New York runs 6,700–7,468 yards across hilly terrain laced with cross bunkers. Golf Digest has ranked it among America's 100 Greatest Public Courses for nearly twenty years, placing it as high as #5 Greatest Public Golf Course In America, #6 Toughest Golf Course In America, and #8 Public Course in America. Hole19 golfers rate it 5.0 and it is one of the most-played courses in New York on Hole19. A shared driving range with an inrange® ball-tracking system and newly installed nets accommodating drivers is open 6 AM–8 PM.
