Berkeley Country Club

Berkeley Country Club, located in El Cerrito, California, traces its roots to early 1920, when a group of thirteen golf enthusiasts held the first official meeting of the club. Designed by legendary Golden Age architects Robert Hunter and Willie Watson, the course carries a heritage that reflects a defining era in American golf. In 2011, the course underwent a complete restoration by Forrest Richardson & Associates. The project reinstated bent grass greens, restored a creek, added back 15 bunkers that had been lost over time, and introduced a modern maintenance facility. The work earned national recognition, including the inaugural Award for Excellence from the American Golf Architects Association. Challenging yet accessible to all skill levels, Berkeley Country Club stands as a living testament to the Golden Age of Golf and continues to welcome Bay Area golfers seeking a course with genuine history behind it.
