Axe Cliff Golf Club

Axe Cliff Golf Club is an 18-hole course in Devon, England, designed by legendary architect James Braid and founded in 1894, making it one of the oldest courses in the county. The club's origins trace to 30 January 1894, when thirteen gentlemen gathered at the Clarence Hotel in Seaton and unanimously resolved to form a golf club. Dr Pattinson was voted into the chair, Samuel Sanders Stephens was appointed President, and the entrance fee and annual subscription were fixed at one guinea — 10/6 for ladies. On 19 September 2014, Mr and Mrs Wellington stepped in to fund and run Axe Cliff, transforming it into a Community Amateur Sports Club. Since then, the course has been revitalised by volunteers and a dedicated staff. The clubhouse has been renovated inside and out, enhancing views over the coast. The kitchens and food arrangements have been completely overhauled, a new Pro-Shop is open, and a fleet of modern buggies now operates across the course.
