Hole 8 at Auburn Hills Golf Club sets the tone for what the Blue Ridge Mountains terrain makes possible: an elevated tee box drops the fairway 80 feet below on a slight dogleg right, with a heart-shaped green protected by bunkers at 367 yards. Hole 13 pushes that further — a 306-yard par-4 where the tee sits 100 feet above the fairway. Hole 17, a 190-yard par-3, plays from 50 to 60 feet above the largest green on the course, with two large ponds guarding the front. Designed by Algie Pulley and opened in 1999, this 18-hole, par-72 links-style course in Virginia, United States stretches from 4,788 to 6,534 yards across rolling terrain with dramatic elevation changes and large undulating greens. The driving range charges $7 for 35 balls and $10 for 70. A putting green is available for warm-up. PGA professional Jeff Gandee offers instruction, with private 45-minute lessons at $30 and junior lessons at $20. The clubhouse includes a restaurant with a full food and beverage menu, box lunches, and continental breakfast, plus a swimming pool.
