Alwoodley Golf Club

Alwoodley Golf Club is a natural heathland course in Leeds, England, where springy fairways wind through heather, whins, and shrubs, framed by naturalistic bunkers and large, often undulating greens. The 18-hole layout runs almost straight out and back. The inward nine plays tougher, with most holes heading into the prevailing wind. Strategic decision-making is built into the design throughout. Well over a century old, the course remains true to Alastair MacKenzie's original intentions. Championship tees have since extended the layout to more than 6,900 yards against a par of 71, a configuration prepared to host the English Open Amateur Strokeplay Championship — the Brabazon — for the first time in 2019.
