Akan Country Club, located in Kushiro, Hokkaido Prefecture, is a 27-hole woodland course that opened in 1972 on the eastern hillside along National Route 240 in Akan Town. The layout is notably flat, threading through a natural forest of more than 20 tree species including white birch, Ezo spruce, cherry, and elm. From the course, distant views of the Pacific Ocean stretch to one side, while Mount Meakan and Mount Oakan rise close on the other. Red-crowned cranes and Ezo deer are known to appear in this expansive natural setting.
