Description
Madras Gymkhana Club is a links-style 18-hole course in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, playing to par 70 over 6,690 yards. The open layout is exposed to a sea breeze that typically arrives around 2 pm, keeping conditions manageable even through the hottest summer months. The treacherous rough, however, makes the course a genuine challenge for golfers of all experience levels. Established in 1877, it ranks as the third oldest golf course in India. A year after opening, the club initiated an inter-club tournament with Bangalore Golf Club — a competition that still runs today, making it the oldest of its kind in the country. The golf annexe marked its 125th anniversary in 2002, a milestone reached by very few clubs outside of Britain.
