University of New Mexico (North)

University of New Mexico (North) is a historic 9-hole course in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and one of the most-played courses in New Mexico on Hole19. Built in 1942 and originally laid out as 27 holes, the North Course made history as the first course in America to surpass the 7,000-yard barrier, measuring 7,300 yards from the Championship tees. That length helped attract significant early tournament play, including the first professional event held in Albuquerque in 1947, won by Lloyd Mangrum. The course went on to host the 1950 NCAA Championships, won by Fred Wampler, and the 1953 International Jaycee Junior Championship, won by Al Geiberger — a competitive résumé that reflects its standing in American golf history.
