Description
Ugo Country Club is an 18-hole course located in Yokote, in the southern inland area of Akita Prefecture, Japan, opened in 1975. Spread across roughly 86 hectares of the gently rolling Dewa Hills, the layout makes good use of the natural terrain. There is a moderate degree of elevation change throughout, but the routing is designed with strategic variety in mind. The course originally opened with bentgrass fairways, but the hot and humid summers typical of the Yokote Basin proved unsuitable for cool-season grasses. Over a period of 15 years, the fairways were gradually converted to korai grass, and the course is now regarded as one of Akita Prefecture's leading korai-grass layouts.
