Toshoen Golf Club

Toshoen Golf Club is a 36-hole course in Ashikaga, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, built through the fierce determination of Iwao Nakajima — father of professional golfer Tsuneyuki Nakajima and a legendary figure in Japanese golf. To realize his vision, Nakajima reshaped the land entirely, leveling mountains and breaking through rock to create a flat, garden-style layout. The result is a course where fairways remain remarkably clean even in wet conditions, with no mud clinging to your shoes after a round in the rain. Throughout the course, rare trees and large stones gathered from across Japan are on display, giving the grounds a distinctive character that photographs and words struggle to capture fully.
