The Woods Golf Club

The Woods Golf Club, located in Whispering Pines, North Carolina, was designed by Ellis Maples over thirty years ago after he was drawn to a rolling stretch of Sandhills terrain in the Pinehurst area. The 18-hole layout was conceived with the average golfer in mind, though accomplished players will find genuine challenge here. The course moves through a variety of shot demands — left-to-right holes, short and long approaches, and a mix of uphill and downhill terrain that keeps every round engaging. Dan Maples, son of Ellis and a respected golf course architect himself, noted that the well-groomed conditioning enhances the original design and works naturally with the roll of the land. The result is a course that rewards thoughtful play at every level.
