The Wellman Club

The Wellman Club is an 18-hole public golf course in Johnsonville, South Carolina, set in lower Florence County. The course features well-groomed fairways and greens that offer a challenge suited to golfers of every skill level, and staff are on hand to help players get the most out of their round. The course has a notable history. For over forty years it operated as the Wellman Golf Club before closing in 2010 following a bankruptcy filing. Florence County purchased the property in 2020 and entered into a 50-year ground lease with the City of Johnsonville the following year. Architects Rees Jones and Bryce Swanson then worked with the City to restore and enhance the course to championship standard, positioning it to draw local players, golf tourists, and amateur and professional organizations looking to host tournaments.
