The Seorabol Golf Club

The Seorabol Golf Club is a 36-hole course in Gyeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and is one of the most-played courses in Gyeongsangbuk-do on Hole19. The layout is built around a central clubhouse, with ridgelines running to either side that frame all 36 holes. From the clubhouse, the view across the course is wide and relaxed. The holes are grouped in sets of nine, each set with its own character, yet the four loops work together as a coherent whole. Natural terrain drives the design throughout. Valleys were used as they were found, and existing streams and ponds were preserved, giving the holes the feel of a course that has grown from the landscape rather than been imposed on it. At the same time, the routing avoids letting topography force awkward or unfair layouts — the fairways are broad and the conditions even, so players can focus on the challenge of the game rather than the quirks of the land.
