Set on Melbourne's sandbelt in Black Rock, Victoria, Australia, The Royal Melbourne Golf Club (Composite) was designed by Alister MacKenzie and Alex Russell and opened in 1959. The layout moves across dramatic undulations, with native grasses framing corridors and bold bunkering shaping every approach. The opening holes establish the course's character early. The 1st plays down a large fairway that narrows at longer hitter distances, with a small bunker on the right and a swale guarding the front left of the green. The 2nd is a risk-reward hole where fairway bunkers cut across the line and the green slopes distinctly from right to left. The course has hosted the 1959 Canada Cup and the 2019 Presidents Cup, and sits among the top 10 golf courses in the world. Access is private.
