The Loma Club

The Loma Club is a 9-hole course in San Diego, California, with roots stretching back to the early 1900s. It was originally part of the historic San Diego Country Club, which merged with A.G. Spalding's Point Loma Golf Club in 1914 — making it a local landmark over a century in the making. Situated at the former Naval Training Center, now Liberty Station, the course was used by the Navy in the 1920s for physical fitness and recruit training. The legendary Sam Snead served as head Golf Professional here during his Navy years. Over the decades, the club also hosted Junior Golf Tournaments that drew future stars including Craig Stadler and Phil Mickelson. Formerly known as Sail Ho Golf Course, the layout was redesigned by renowned San Diego architect Cary Bickler and features modern fairways, greens, and practice facilities. In 2014, Good Time Design remodeled the clubhouse bar and grill and added a 3,000 square foot deck with an outdoor bar. The result is a course that pairs solid golf with a versatile indoor/outdoor space well suited to events and tournaments.
