The Club at Ironwood

The Club at Ironwood is a popular round among Hole19 golfers in Virginia, and its reputation is well earned. Designed by William F. Gordon in 1967, this 18-hole par 71 course sits in Verona, Virginia, where rolling hills create constant changes in elevation across the layout. The course plays at up to 6,600 yards from the Black Tees and offers six sets of tee markers in total, including options for junior golfers. Its challenge comes less from length and more from the sidehill, downhill, and uphill lies the terrain produces — demanding careful club selection and a clear line of play on nearly every hole. Experienced players will find plenty to test them, while newcomers can settle into the round without feeling overwhelmed. The Club at Ironwood has a strong competitive history, hosting multiple VSGA championships. In 1971, a young Curtis Strange finished runner-up at the VSGA Junior Amateur Championship held here, and the course most recently served as the site of the VSGA Junior Girls' Championship in 2011.
