The Belmont Golf Club

The Belmont Golf Club is an 18-hole course set in the Belmont Valley, about 7km south-east of Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape, and a popular round among Hole19 golfers in the region. The course straddles a gravel road running through the valley, with 12 holes on the western side and 6 on the eastern side. The Kowie River runs through the layout, largely alongside the road, and an old railway line to Port Alfred passes through parts of the course — though it is well hidden and rarely affects play. Built on a farm, the course makes good use of the natural Eastern Cape bush. The eastern holes sit on the upper valley slopes and offer panoramic views both north and south, while the western side is home to many mature Oak trees that shelter over 100 bird species. The contrast between the two sides gives the round a varied, engaging character throughout.
