Shipyard Golf Club

Shipyard Golf Club is a 27-hole championship facility on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, made up of three nine-hole courses: the Clipper, the Galleon, and the Brigantine. Four tee positions across all three nines accommodate every level of play, and large, undulating greens — converted to Diamond Zoysia in 2008 and 2009, among the first in the Southeast — demand precise, committed putting. The Clipper and Galleon courses were both designed by George W. Cobb and built in 1970. The Clipper is considered the most demanding of the three, with significant water and sand hazards requiring a reliable long game and a soft touch around the greens. The Galleon winds through large oaks and tall pines, where accurate approach shots into well-guarded greens are essential. The Brigantine course, designed by Willard C. Byrd and opened in 1982, plays around lagoons and features slight doglegs, well-placed bunkers, and the occasional alligator along its banks. Combined with the Clipper and Galleon, it offers a variety of 18-hole combinations. The course was the former home of the Hilton Head Senior International from 1982 to 1984 and is one of the most-played courses in South Carolina on Hole19, rated 4.4 by Hole19 golfers.
