Hole 16 is widely regarded as the best par 3 on the course, and it is one reason Sherrill Park Municipal Golf Course (Course 1) in Richardson, Texas, draws the volume it does. Designed by Leon Howard and later refined by D. A. Weibring and Design Resource, Inc., the 18-hole layout opened in 1997 and has since hosted USGA and PGA Qualifiers as well as NTPGA Junior Championships. The course plays across terrain defined by water hazards, fairway bunkers, and elevated greens. The opening hole alone spans a yardage range of 441 to 524 yards. Dallas Morning News has ranked it among the top four Texas golf courses, and it consistently ranks among the top 10 municipal courses. Hole19 golfers rate it 4.2, and it is one of the most-played courses in Texas on Hole19. On-site amenities include a pro shop, snack bar, and a bar serving beer, liquor, and wine. Golf lessons and private sessions are available through an on-site academy.
